Michael A. Lamacchia, MD, Chairman, Department of Pediatrics at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center and St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, has been named the new Chair, Board of Trustees of the Partnership for Maternal & Child Health of Northern New Jersey. In this role, Dr. Lamacchia will oversee the governance and strategic planning for the nonprofit organization, which includes membership from the 24-acute care hospitals in the northernmost region of the State. This year, the Partnership celebrates its 25th anniversary as the major maternal and child agency in NJ, responsible for analyzing the health outcomes of 50% of the babies born in the State. The Partnership addresses those findings through consumer and professional education and direct community service.
Dr. Lamacchia, a pediatric infectious diseases specialist and children’s hospital administrator, received his Medical Degree from the Universita degli Studi di Pisa in Italy. He completed both his residency and internship at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York and a fellowship at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Lamacchia has led numerous clinical trials and published several articles and abstracts on infectious diseases.
Commenting on the election and promotion to Board Chair, Dr. Lamacchia, said, “I am delighted and honored to serve in this capacity.
